Renowned for its tales of ancient mythology, preserved architectural wonders and Mediterranean climate, Greece is a wondrous destination, from the Acropolis to the superb ruins of the Temple of Poseidon. This fertile land of olive groves shaped the whole course of western civilisation whilst Greece today offers the traveller the comforts of modern Europe in close proximity to the stark beauty of the ancient world.
This is a fabulous tour of the Peloponnese peninsula visiting the fascinating cities, temples and amphitheatres of ancient Greece combined with a relaxing 3 day mini cruise around the Greek Islands. Your tour provides the opportunity to follow centuries of travellers to the ancient sites to learn of Greece’s enormous contribution to European culture.
Day 1 - Depart on a morning flight to Athens. On arrival you will be met by our local representative for the transfer by private coach to your hotel, with free time prior to dinner.
Day 2 - Start of Royal Olympic Cruise arriving early evening in Mykonos. Depart late evening for Rhodes.
Day 3 - Arrive in Rhodes early morning. Optional excursion to Lindos. Free afternoon. Early evening departure for Patmos.
Day 4 - Arrive at Patmos early morning. Optional excursion to St John’s Monastery and Grotto. Depart mid morning for Kusadasi. Optional excursion to Ephessus. Depart early evening for Piraeus.
Day 5 - Disembark for the short journey to Athens. Full day guided tour of the city highlights followed by a visit to the Acropolis. Afternoon guided tour of the National Archaeological Museum followed by a visit to Cape Sounion. Return to Athens for dinner.
Day 6 - Full day cruise around the Islands of the Saronic Gulf, stopping at Aegina, Poros and Hydra. Return to the hotel for dinner.
Day 7 - Depart for Delphi. Walk the Sacred Way to the Temple of Apollo and visit the museum. Check in at Delphi hotel in time for dinner.
Day 8 - Depart by ferry to Rion. Continue to Olympia to visit the Olympic Museum and Stadium. Visit the Sanctuary of Zeus and Archaeological Museum. Check in at Olympia hotel in time for dinner.
Day 9 - Cross the Peloponnese to Mycenae. Tour of Tiryns to view the ruins of the fortress-palace and secret tunnels below the Acropolis. Continue to Tolon. Check in at Tolon hotel in time for dinner.
Day 10 - Visit to Epidaurus to see the theatre. Return to Athens with stops at the site of Ancient Corinth with the Temple of Apollo and Corinth Canal. Check in at Athens hotel in time for dinner and folklore show in the Plaka District.
Day 11 - Depart for Kolonaki. Ascend Lycabetus Hill for fantastic views over the city. Free time prior to the return flight to the UK.
The above itinerary is flexible and can be changed to include any visits of particular interest to your group. Additional days can be added at your request. The tour may be taken without the cruise if preferred.
- Sparta and Mystas - Continue travelling through the Peloponnesse to Sparta, where you will visit the Tomb of Leonides and nearby Mystras, the location of the Frankish Castle, considered in its day to be the Byzantine centre of civilisation. Return to Tolon for dinner and overnight accommodation. This additional day can slot into itinerary after day 9.

Flights are available daily from London Heathrow with British Airways or Olympic Air with an early morning flight departing directly from either London Heathrow, or London Gatwick to Athens. Indirect flights are available from Regional Airports. All flights and accommodation are subject to availability. For peak season dates we strongly recommend that you book early.
The 3-night cruise with Royal Olympic Cruises departs on a Friday morning and returning to Athens on a Monday morning. Your itinerary will be arranged around the cruise dates.
